Time Management

Nowadays we are all very busy and we keep the words repeating very often “I don’t have time to do this or that.” But then on second thought, if somebody as busy as me, can get time to do something, why am I not having that time? We all have 24 hours a day. It is because that person has a better and effective way of managing his time than us. So we need to learn how to make use of our time effectively and efficiently to be more productive. Yes, that’s my dear is the definition of Time Management. And today we are going to dive deep into this part.

We all lead our lives differently. And we all have different meanings for the word ‘productive’. So we all need to evaluate ourselves by ourselves to manage our Time. But some tips are always very useful and can act as a guide to Time Management.

  1. Assess your Time: In order to make effective use of Time, we need to assess our time first. Note done how you spend your days. How much time do you spend to do a task? Which tasks take much of your time? So assessment is very important and should be done at first.
  2. Make a To-do-List everyday: Yes it is going back to basic but a very effective tool. Jot down your day’s task on a piece of paper. But don’t overburden your to-do-list. Write down the task which is feasible to do in a day.
  3. Prioritize effectively:: Manage your to-do list according to your priorities. Arrange them as per the importance and urgency. And then the rest. Try to do urgent as well as important works in the first place. In the early part of the day, you are at the pick of your energy. So do them then.
  4. Break down big tasks into small chunks: We often have tasks that couldn’t be completed in a day. So break the task into small chunks. This will reduce the burden of doing a mammoth task on one sitting and this will motivate you to take the next steps if you accomplish your daily task.
  5. Give yourself the much-needed break frequently:: It is very much needed in order to gain some energy in the workspace. Eat light snacks or take a small walk outside your office.
  6. Cut down your screen time:: We lose hours every day scrolling irrelevant pages on social sites. Try to consciously cut down the screen time. This will save you precious time, which you could use in many productive ways.
  7. Start saying ‘NO’:: We often get overburden with work, just because we can’t say ‘NO’. Know your limit and try to say ‘no’ more often to help better manage your time.
  8. Delegate work or at least do work together:: Stop doing everything all by yourself. Try to delegate some works to others or at least do work together. This applies both in your workplace as well as in your home.
  9. Jot down the list for shopping:: We often tend to spend hours shopping our groceries, as we tend to forget what to buy or not. Jot down the things you need to buy beforehand. This will save you time and energy while shopping.
  10. Stop procrastination:: Believe it or not, we all at some point in time are guilty of procrastination. And this is because we dislike doing a job or don’t know how to do it. So we tent to ignore the task until the last moment. So stop this procrastination. Do the harder tasks fast and the rest will fall into their places.

Well, the need for time management is to do the task in a smarter way and not the harder way. Be smart while planning.
