When you feel like nothing is right and everything is falling apart in front of you. Hold tight and care more about yourself. Indulge yourself in a rich self-care routine. Nurture your body, mind, and soul. There’s nothing wrong with doing so. You have every right to take care of yourself. Spend some time in a day for yourself. If you decided the ‘why-factor’, that is, why you need a self-care routine. I will give you the ‘how-factor’, that is, how you could indulge in a self-care routine.
1. Drink plenty of water– Drinking plenty of water not only hydrate yourself but it is good for your skin and overall digestive system. It also helps in boosting your mood. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.
2. Stretch out your body– If working out in the gym is not your kind of joy, just stretch out at least for 15-20 minutes in the comfort of your home. And make it your routine. Even a brisk walk in nature is very good. It gives you the all needed movement, which most of us lacks sitting in front of computers or being a couch potato in front of the TV.
3. Follow a skincare routine– Follow a simple but regular skincare routine. Pamper your skin as this is the outer layer of your body. Clean it regularly especially, clean your makeup properly. Help your skin to breathe. Moisturize with a cream or lotion that suits you. Use a scrub to exfoliate the dead skin from your body. Wash your hair thoroughly with a mild shampoo. Remember, it is your hair that catches most of the dart when you go out. So taking good care of it is very essential.
4. Put yourself together– And by that I mean prepare yourself even if you don’t have anywhere to go. Dress, wear makeup, and comb your hair, even when you won’t have anywhere to go. This will make you feel good. Look at you in a mirror-yes, you are all but put together and it really boosts up your mood.
5.Unwind– Go for a quick walk in a park or beside a river or sea, if you have easy access to them. Take some deep breath and see the world outside. There is so much life going on outside. Be a part of it. Appreciate that you could enjoy such a view. Unwind your thoughts. Let’s your worries and sadness get away with the cool breeze coming from nature.
6.Write a Journal- If you couldn’t tell your problems or worries to others, if anything bothering you, then write it down. Write until your last thoughts are penned down. See how relief you will feel after such exercise. You will feel light and less anxious.
7.Nourish yourself in wholesome food– Avoid processed food as much as you can. Instead, take whole food. Cook something for yourself. And make this a habit. Use fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Processed food not only lacks nutrients but also sometimes can upset your stomach. Take fresh foods instead. They are not only more nutritious but are good for your digestion also.
8. Mediate– And lastly, taking care of the mind and body is not the only way of self-care. We can’t forget our soul. Meditation helps us to reconnect with our soul. Spend 1/2 hour every day at a quiet corner of your room to mediate. It will be very uneasy in the beginning, but with little practice and patience, you will master it. Just sit quietly and concentrate. Feel your breath. Feel the sounds around you and concentrate.
Just remember, you could care for others, until and unless you yourself are well. And your wellness depends on how much time and energy you give yourself to self- care.
