By now you are reading this blog in my website, you to some extent has an idea on Slow Living. And if you are new here, please refer to my previous blog posts on the concept of Slow Living before dive into today’s topic.
Today, let us go a little further in nurturing Slow Living concept and how to incorporate it into our Life Style. To say frankly, ready a concept is far more different than trying to incorporate its idea into Our daily life.It is all the more difficult if we are trying to adopt this concept into our busy city life.
Cities all over the world moved at a fast pace. My city stays awake for 24×7 no stop. We have fast pace business offices, where people compete for earning their livelihood, where to go slow means you lose an opportunity. Roads are filled with heavy traffic and there are every possibilities of chaos if you don’t fall in line. Our night life is also very glamourous and fast pace. In short, I live in a city who loves speed.
So getting into the city with Slow Living concept, is a challenge in itself. Well I am ready to take the challenge. Let us explore together.
Finding a sanctuary in a corner of your home…..
I found a quiet place at a corner of my living room. Next to it is my balcony overlooking the lush green trees in my neighborhood. I put a rug and some cushions to give the comfy of my home. This corner provides me with the ambiance of quietness, where I unwinds myself after a hard day at office. I also put a rubber plant at the corner and a Buddha statue to complete the place. The Buddha statue, bought from an art and craft fair, has a facial feature that reflects inner peace and mindfulness within it. Just by looking at it, I often find my desire just to close my eyes and sit still in front of it. I try to indulge in the whole atmosphere of peace and tranquility created by the master piece.
Find Quiet Place outside your home…...
Although we live at a fast pace cities, but our cities has some places of quietness for you to enjoy. I have a citizen’s park nearby. Some times while coming back from Office, I find a quiet bench at a corner of the park. I enjoy the moment thoroughly, with so much green to see and feel. A drowning Sun at a corner of the Lake reminds me of my tiredness and now it’s time to relax.
But a park in not the only option, that you have in the cities, you could go to a neighborhood cafe and find a quiet place. Or enjoy a weekend outing at a Museum or historic place at you city. An old Church or a quiet Temple could also be a great place, to enjoy some quietness and brood over Your Life.
I sometimes take a day break by roaming near a Lake, beside my place of work. Studies show that water makes us happier and calmer. So it could be a good option to explore.
I hope you too get some ideas from my blog.
