We all have different priorities in different levels of our lives, for which we have to plan before hand to achieve it. These are basically, known as goal planning. These goals changes as we get older. Our goals also changes to new goals as we achieve our previous goal. Say for example, I planned my study time at the time of my graduation in order to pass the examination. After I achieve the goal, my priority shifted to getting a job and I plan accordingly to achieve the next big target.
Before getting down to goal planning, we need to ask a few questions within ourselves to plan more effectively and efficiently.
1. First of all, what is my life’s goals? I may have multiple goals to achieve in my life. For example, I wanted to be a writer, a food blogger at the same time. Next I also wanted to get promotion this year. I may have different goals at the same time. And for each of them I have to set up good planning strategies to achieve them all.
2. Prioritizing the goals-I may have multiple goals, but some of them are of high priority than the others. Becoming a writer may be my first priority and I could wait for another year for my promotion. And this could be other way around. I may be in a financial crunch and getting a promotion means a salary hike. So this is my first priority and I could give my writing skill some more time as for being a good writer you need a lot of time. So prioritizing your goals is utmost important.
3.As you have selected your top goal at the moment, you need to ask yourself why you need to achieve this goal. For example, I wanted to get a promotion for a salary hike. Before planning your goal, your goal should have enough motivation to sustain all other obstacles.
4.Next is the impact of your goal in your life. How your goal will change your life. If I write good short stories and people love reading my stories I will be famous. It will definitely have an impact in my life. But the question here is, are you ready to embarrass your achievement in all situations.
5.After going through all the above mentioned points, if you still wanted to continue your goal planning on a particular goal, now is the time to see how to achieve it. And the best way in my opinion is to break your goals into small achievable targets. By breaking it into small targets, you could give your full focus into the task and achieve greater success. And the accomplishment of this task will boast you to take the next step in more confident way.
6. You can’t achieve your goal, unless you change your habits to achieve it. You need to plan your goals to inculcate new habits, for achieving your task. If I wanted to become a good writer, I should build a habit of reading extensively and to do enormous research to write more confidently. So building your habits according to your goals is an important part of planning.
7.You also need to see what is your support system in this regard and how they could help you in need. My family and friends are always my support system to boast my morale, whenever I take a new project. Your rewards would be more fulfilling and satisfying, if you could enjoy it with your near ones.
8. Lastly, you cannot set a goal and achieve it without any sacrifice. You need to let go something in order to achieve something. Think wisely before setting your target and ask yourself are your goals good enough to overcome your sacrifice.
